Rules

1. Institution: The Japanese Society of Toxicology (“Society”) hereby institutes the Japanese Society of Toxicology Tanabe Award (“Award”).
2. Eligibility: The purpose of JSOT shall be to promote the progress/development of research in the field of toxicology through the following activities:
3. Awarding: The Award comprising a testimonial and extra prize shall be presented to the winner(s) at the annual meeting of the Society. In principle, the Award shall be granted to up to four research papers for the year; however, if none are judged satisfactory, no award will be given.
4. Selection:

(1)The Selection Sub-Committee of Japanese Society of Toxicology Tanabe Award (“Selection Sub-Committee”) is established under the Editorial Committee for selecting the winner(s).

(2)The President shall confer with the Chairperson for designating the Selection Sub-Committee Chairperson. The Chairperson of Editorial Committee shall confer with the Selection Sub-Committee Chairperson for designating the Selection Sub-Committee members. The designated members shall hold office for one year, and may be re-designated.

(3)If a Selection Sub-Committee member belongs to the same chair (or the corresponding department of an entity other than a university) as the Award nominee(s), he/she shall not chair the Selection Sub-Committee.

(4)The research papers eligible for the Award shall be those which were originally published in the bulletin regularly issued by the Society in the previous year.

(5)The secretariat of the Society shall deliver the list of eligible research papers published in the previous year to the Selection Sub-Committee members each year.

(6)The Selection Sub-Committee shall select the Award winner(s), and the Sub-Committee Chairperson shall report the results, including a case in which no winners are selected, to the President and the Chairperson of Editorial Committee.
